Barney Harrison

Barney Harrison Barney Harrison trained in endocrine surgery with Malcolm Wheeler in Cardiff with and in Lille, France with Charles Proye. He was appointed Consultant Endocrine Surgeon at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield from 1992 to 2015.

He served as President of the British Association of Endocrine & Thyroid Surgeons, member of Council of the International Association of Endocrine Surgeons and was a founder member of the ESES. He contributed to the ESES evidence based consensus statements on parathyroid, adrenal and thyroid disease and was the surgical lead for the British Thyroid Cancer guidelines

His special interests include minimally invasive adrenal surgery, outcomes and standards of care in endocrine surgery.


Dr Paul Van Crombrugge

Paul Van Crombrugge Dr Paul Van Crombrugge works in the Department of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases and in the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the O. L. Vrouw-Ziekenhuis teaching hospital in Aalst.

He is past president of Flemish Diabetes Association, Vice president of WorldWide (Worldwide Initiative for Diabetes Education) and member of the Steering committee of the Belgian Diabetes Register and of the IQPED Belgium (the Initiative for Quality Promotion and Epidemiology for Diabetes). He is involved in several working groups on thyroid disease. He coordinates the treatment of thyroid cancer of an interhospital network dealing with a population of 400 000 inhabitants.

His current areas of clinical research include gestational diabetes and thyroid disease.


Quan-Yang Duh

Quan-Yang Duh Dr. Quan-Yang Duh is Professor of Surgery and Section Chief of Endocrine Surgery, University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Duh graduated from Yale University and completed his surgical residency and fellowship at the University of California, in San Francisco.

Dr. Duh is an expert endocrine surgeon and advance laparoscopic surgeon. He specializes in the treatment of endocrine tumors, those from the thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas and adrenal glands. He performs laparoscopic adrenalectomy and minimally invasive surgery for parathyroid and thyroid gland. Dr. Duh has been the President of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons.

Dr. Duh's research involved oncogenesis and genetic alteration of endocrine tumors, and clinical research of patients with adrenal diseases (aldosteronoma, pheochromocytoma, hypercortisolism and adrenal metastasis), and minimally invasive parathyroid and thyroid operations. He has co-authored more than 300 articles and edited 3 textbooks.
